微雕大師創「細」界 締奇迹 :

【經濟日報專訊】男人要做大事，他卻選擇做「細」事！英國 微雕大師Willard Wigan，自小因讀寫障礙受盡白眼，卻令他醉心研究獨有微雕手技，讓毫不起眼的塵埃纖維、沙粒、針頭等，變成比紅血球更細小的藝術品。他相信微小的東西並非無關重要，誓要透過藝術品，證明這個肉眼看不見的世界；他的堅持，成功換來「世界第八大奇迹」的美譽。
「在空房中，你看到甚麼？許多人會答『無物』（nothing），但事實上，是有不少細小東西如昆蟲、微生物，只是你看不到，並非不存在……我想證明，無物有多大！」
在英國長大的Willard，接受本報記者越洋訪問，自小患有讀寫障礙、在學校中受盡白眼，5歲時被老師形容終身是失敗者：「當時很沮喪，老師及同學都不喜歡我，很想逃離學校！」
母鼓勵：作品愈小 名氣愈大
升讀中學後，因對昆蟲很有興趣，悄悄偷了學校顯微鏡返家觀察，老師得悉後逐個學生查問，同學們一一否認，豈料老師問他時，不等他回答，便直斥他的腦袋如昆蟲般小，認為不可能是他偷的，自此他透過顯微鏡沉醉於昆蟲世界，更令他開啟了微雕的大門。
他發現，家中螞蟻身形雖小，卻可用觸覺溝通，於是用木屑為牠們興建小型社區，造了20間房子、木桌等，還放了一點糖在桌上，吸引大批螞蟻進駐；母親始發現兒子有雕刻天賦：「她鼓勵我雕刻，更對我說『你作品愈細小，名氣將會愈大！』」
40歲被賞識 獲英女皇頒MBE
16歲的他便停學，在工廠區從事木板鑽孔的刻板工作，空閒時便在家鑽研、創作他獨特的微型雕塑品，他無師自通，糖粒、沙粒、線頭均成為其雕刻物料，亦自製雕刻工具，以蒼蠅腳及翼作畫筆上色。
這個寂寂無聞的藝術家，在1999年、40歲之時，替朋友的新鋪外牆雕花，被發現其雕功細緻，之後朋友始知悉他醉心微雕，吸引大批記者採訪，天賦始被外界賞識；此後美國 總統奧巴馬 一家、英國歌手Elton John等亦成為他的微雕對象，07年他更獲英女皇頒發大英帝國成員勳章（MBE）。
周五來港獻藝 橫跨整顆鑽石
究竟他的作品有多「細」？大部分要以紅外線 的微米（Micrometre，即1/1000毫米）作單位，以「美女與野獸」作品為例，「美女」身高718.31微米，「野獸」只得929.86微米，要在顯微鏡下才得看見「廬山真面目」。進行微雕時，必須長時間絲毫不動，稍不留神便毀於一旦，Willard憶述，在微材料上雕刻《Alice in the Wonderland》中的Alice時，不慎將「她」吸走，要從頭開始，他形容：「那次完全是一個痛苦！」之後便謹記要屏氣凝神，以防重蹈覆轍。
Willard將於本周五（8/4）首次來港、於朗豪坊舉行展覽，同時亦跟謝瑞麟合作，在鑽石上微雕，至於雕了甚麼主題，他大賣關子，透露作品將橫跨整顆鑽石。

Referral can be made directly to the Private Clinic at Queen Mary Hospital. A referral letter from a medical practitioner is generally necessary for most specialists. Please print the details of the patient’s name, date of birth, Hong Kong identity card number or travel document number and daytime contact telephone number on the referral letter and fax the referral letter to our Clinic for appointment booking.
